Start Of Watch: Jumping on the Overwatch Bandwagon
Overwatch certainly isn’t new on anyone’s radar. In fact, this fast paced competitive game has amassed millions of players worldwide since it’s initial release in May of 2016.
We may be a bit late to the party but hey, we are new on the scene after all so forgive our tardiness and let’s get into our reviews and gameplay with something many of us already love. Overwatch.
I had heard a lot about this game but for some reason had not taken the time to get involved. This was perhaps due to my obsession with Fortnite and everything that is churning out of that beast at the moment. But, now I’m on board and instantly fell in love with this game.

In Overwatch, you control one of several heroes in competitive 6-person team shooting matches. Battle over objectives, take down the other team, and achieve victory.
Before you begin a game of Overwatch, you’ll need to choose a hero to play.
Maybe controlling a cannon-toting, genetically-engineered ape from the moon appeals to you. Or, you might prefer zipping around as a teleporting, time-traveling freedom fighter.
In Overwatch, heroes do battle in diverse locations around the world. From the technological marvel of Numbani to the manufacturing powerhouse of Volskaya, each map has a unique layout and specific win conditions that your team must meet in order to secure victory.
We will dive into the game in a lot more detail in a later post, this one is more of an introduction into my Overwatch Career.
In a nut shell, you start a match with a range of different Heroes to choose from, all with their own abilities. I would strongly recommend jumping into the training area and having a play with all of them due to their huge range of special skills and the fact that you won’t always get the Hero you want if a team mate has already called dibs.
Once you are in a match there is either a POI to defend or Attack and your team must work together to win, combining Tank, Damage, and Support roles.
Each Hero has a special skill move called an Ultimate Ability which, when executed correctly can tun the tables against the enemy team. That is an area I will go into more in a later post because currently my knowledge is limited to only a handful of Heroes.
