It’s time for everyone to drop out of the Battle Bus and into Fortnite Battle Royale as the mode goes free on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Mac with the release of the 1.6.3 patch tomorrow (Sept. 26). Gather your squad: four-player and two-player groups are here. Along with squads, we’ve added three new weapons and supply crates that drop from the sky during the match containing valuable items and weapons. This patch also includes a full Battle Royale balance pass, bug fixes and more.

For those out there Saving the World in PVE, we fixed a number of campaign bugs among other improvements. We’ll be talking more about the Horde Bash update for Save The World later this week, but if you missed the early look at the update, you can check out the latest dev video here & Zak’s roadmap forum post here.

Check out the full release notes below and let us know what you think on the official forums and Discord.

New Duos and Squad match types have been added, alongside Solos. Play in groups of 2 or up to 4 and fight to eliminate all the other teams!

Invite friends to play on your team using the in-game Friends List.
Use the “Fill” option to automatically fill your team with other players.
When your health falls to zero you’ll be “down but not out” (DBNO). Your squadmates only have a short amount of time to revive you before your health bar drains.
You can see your team members’ status on the HUD, including Health and Shields.
Use the map to place location markers which are visible to your team and will display on the compass at the top of the HUD. Keep an eye out for markers from your squad!
Cooperate with team members to build awesome defensive structures!
Friendly-fire is enabled, so be careful where you aim! Intentionally attacking squadmates violates the code of conduct.
The Squad match type (up to four-player teams) is available to play immediately. Duos (two-player teams) will be activated when there are enough players to support matchmaking in both modes.

There is now a chance for Supply Drops to descend from the sky. These crates contain valuable weapons and items! (Pro-tip: destroying the balloon will make it drop rapidly to the ground.)

The Scoped Assault Rifle improves accuracy over the base version, and is best used to engage medium-long range targets.

The Zapotron can be used to fire electric blasts in short bursts, or charged up to release an enormous amount of damage! Fire sparingly, as Cell Ammo is extremely limited. This weapon is only available in Supply Drops.

The Tactical SMG is an effective medium range weapon with high rate of fire.

Anyone who has purchased a Founder’s Pack before Sept. 21 will receive exclusive Camo skins for their glider and umbrella while descending from the Battle Bus!
Skydiving and paragliding lateral speeds have been reduced when moving backwards or strafing.
Falling damage when landing on slopes is reduced depending on the angle of the slope. Full damage is applied for horizontal surfaces, and reduced at steeper angles.
Foot dust no longer kicks up when crouched, aiming down sights or making small movements.
While using Health and Shield items, you can now move your character a short distance without cancelling the action.
Increased distance that you can see other players to 275m (was 250m).
Greatly increased distance that you can see player-created structures to 275m (was 180m). This fixes issues where players could appear to be floating in the sky, or projectiles would impact an “invisible” distant wall.

The release of 1.7.1 improves overall game stability and adds quality-of-life improvements for both Save the World and Battle Royale players. In addition, we have re-enabled support for DirectX 10 hardware. This should also improve performance for low-spec PC players.

What are we doing about cheaters?

In this release, we’ve added a report button in-game which will allow players to swiftly report cheaters. What’s more, we released a blog last week detailing our current and future anti-cheat plans. Check it out here.
BattlEye has been added to our existing anti-cheat detection.

Fortnite Battle Royale stats make an appearance in this release! Stats will be backfilled for the launch of this new feature. Check out the Stats tab on the FNBR home screen.

We missed our initial release date for leaderboards, but we’re working to get them in as soon as possible.

Save the World - Hero & Monster Balance

Ability damage, health and shield values have been increased for all heroes! This change has little impact at lower levels, but provides a significant buff for players who have made notable progress in their Save the World campaign. Hero balance continues to be work in progress.

Beware, monsters have also received a slight buff to their health and damage at higher levels.

Challenge the Horde Progression

We have taken note of the widespread feedback regarding progression for the Challenge the Horde game mode, and have made a number of changes to accommodate. The farther along you are in the Save the World campaign, the farther along your Challenge the Horde journey begins. Veteran players will no longer have to replay lower difficulty content in order to reach a true challenge.

In addition, all challenges in the Tier 1, 2 and 3 zones will be automatically unlocked by default, making progress through these sections much quicker.

Dive into the full notes below and share your thoughts and feedback on the official Forums and Discord.

Metal forts will now require two explosive blasts (instead of one). Late-game bases are too easily destroyed and we want to promote building diversity.

It's a little too easy to spam rockets. We want the Rocket Launcher to be a powerful weapon, but it's a little too good right now.
Increased Submachine Gun damage by 10%.

If a quests states: Complete “Challenge 3 in a rating 9 zone,” the challenge can now be completed in any zone 9 or higher rather than in a zone with 9 difficulty specifically.
When entering a Tier 1, 2 or 3 zone, all challenges within that zone are now unlocked by default.
This will make progressing through the mode quicker.

All of the remaining existing fragments are removed and new fragments are spawned at potentially new locations.

Hero abilities and gadgets will have greater impact on monsters at higher levels.
Weapons will deal more damage to monsters quicker at high level.
Adjusted enemy health and damage values as a result of the Hero scaling changes

Update V.1.9 releases on Tuesday, November 14. The Fortnitemares event is extended until Nov 29.

Numerous gameplay, controller sensitivity, and performance improvements are air-dropped into Fortnite Battle Royale. Save the World receives quality-of-life improvements across many of its systems and introduces a new set of stylish shotguns in the V.1.9 patch.

Battle Royale Launch Pads

Prepare your gliders. The Launch Pad trap flings players high into the air and lets you re-deploy your glider mid-match! Traverse the battlefield in style as you soar over any obstacles in your path and surprise your enemies with an aerial assault.
Once deployed, the Launch Pad can be triggered by any player and has unlimited uses.
It cannot be picked back up.
It can be destroyed like any other trap.
Save the World Shotguns

Patch V.1.9 Introduces a brand new set of stylish shotguns! Each of these weapons can be looted throughout the world and their respective schematics can be found in Loot Llamas.
Semi-Auto Shotgun - Uncommon
Charger - Rare
Stallion - Epic
Stampede - Legendary
Dev Comment: The following weapons were always intended to deal the same damage as their non-Scavenger counterparts. A bug caused the following weapons to deal increased damage, which is why we are adjusting them to their intended values now. We are sorry for initially missing this note! It is never our intention to "ninja-nerf."
Scavenger Assault Rifle
Base damage reduced from 33 to 28
Impact reduced from 87 to 73
Base damage reduced from 36 to 30
Impact reduced from 95 to 80
Scavenger Semi-Auto Shotgun

Impact reduced from 528 to 440
Husk Buster
Base damage reduced from 162 to 135
Impact reduced from 576 to 480
Default controller sensitivity settings have been adjusted.
In previous updates, scoped sensitivity was too slow, even at the highest setting. This has been improved in V.1.9 to allow for a wider sensitivity range.
Controller sensitivity settings have been adjusted to range from 1 through 10 instead of 0.0 through 1.0.
Sensitivities may feel different with this update. As much as we didn’t want to change your preferred settings, it was necessary in order to improve the scoped sensitivity issue that many players have reported.
A new “Reset to Default” option has been added to the “Game” menu.
Firing, jumping, reloading, etc will no longer cancel targeting mode.
Introducing “Per Playlist Loot.”
Duo Playlist: Medium Ammo stack increased from 10 to14.

This adjustment only applies to ammo found in Ammo Cans, Treasure Chests, and Supply Drops. Eventually this will be increased in Floor Loot as well.

We’ve been exploring how to reduce the size of patches for Xbox. We found a solution, but that means this particular update is larger than usual. (It’s about ~10 GB.)
We are aware of an issue that occurs to some players where downloads are extended in duration and users may believe that a "hang" has occurred. Our investigation tells us that the download is NOT hanging, but the process is taking longer than it should to complete. In the meantime, please continue to let the download and install process complete naturally. We are partnering with SIE to address this issue as quickly as possible.

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, SMALL SHIELD POTION UPDATE
By The Fortnite Team
Fortnite Fans!

Prepare yourselves for a Battle Royale update incoming Dec. 19, 8am ET (13:00 GMT). We’re improving trap usability and introducing the Small Shield Potion for the survivor on the go.

Grants 25 Shield, to a maximum of 50.
Drops in stacks of 3 with a stack limit of 10.
Uncommon rarity.
Can be found in floor loot, treasure chests, and supply drops.
Consumed in 2 seconds.
Cannot be consumed while moving.
The Spike Trap, Wall Zapper, and Ceiling Zapper have been combined into a single “Damage Trap.”
When this trap is in placement mode, it will automatically swap between floors, walls, and ceilings.
The Launch Pad, Vertical Jump Pad, and Horizontal Jump Pad has been combined to just “Launch Pad.”
The Launch Pad can still only be placed on floors.
You can now switch between traps using the same key binding as “Change Building Material.”
The radial menu to select different traps has been removed.
Our plan is to revisit a few of the traps going away in this update. There is a chance some of these traps may return at some point in a different state. There will be no downtime, and no update required. Keep an eye on our official Twitter for immediate updates. See you in game!
